In my childhood, marble was the finest thing the earth could bear. The small marbles in my pocket felt like treasures, fragments of distant palaces whispered about in fairytales. I’d close my eyes and see marble halls, cool pillars, and fountains where water sang to stone. Each marble was a little world, a spinning gateway to dreams. Marble was cool, smooth, and eternally beautiful — a promise that somewhere there is a kingdom where everything is white, green, and grey like a frozen river, and every step echoes like the beginning of a story.
